Endometrial Ablation

In-office Endometrial Ablation is now available at The Women’s Center for women who suffer heavy periods and/or abnormal vaginal bleeding. This procedure is an alternative to hysterectomy in many cases that destroys the inner lining (endometrial) of the uterus during a procedure that allows for little down time from home or work. Endometrial Ablation is minimally invasive and can be comfortably performed with administration of oral medications and local anesthetic. The procedure itself takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and is tolerated very well.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL: "I had the procedure done over 2 years ago. It has made my life so much easier, and now I'm much more active. I can actually be happy around my family and plan more outings. In addition to that, I can sleep on white sheets and use my white towels without a worry! I highly recommend having an ablation done. The procedure is quick and has minimal recovery time. All you need to look forward to are positive results with a happier, active, and worry-free lifestyle. Dr Gearity is the best!"

Essure

The Essure procedure is the first and only FDA approved female sterilization procedure to have zero pregnancies in the clinical trials. The Essure procedure is permanent and is NOT reversible. Therefore, you should be sure you do not want children in the future. The Essure procedure is different than the traditional method of a surgical tubal ligation. With Essure there is no cutting into the body. Instead, one of our Essure-trained doctors inserts spring-like coils, called micro-inserts, through your body’s natural pathways (vagina, cervix, and uterus) and into your fallopian tubes. The Essure procedure is performed in our office without general anesthesia. During the first 3 months following the procedure, your body and the micro-inserts work together to form a tissue barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the egg. During this period, you will need to use another form of birth control. After 3 months, your doctor will perform an Essure Confirmation Test, a special type of x-ray to confirm that your tubes are completely blocked and you can rely on the Essure micro-inserts for birth control. Unlike birth control pills, patches, rings, and some forms of IUDs, Essure does not contain hormones to interfere with your natural menstrual cycle. Your periods should more or less continue in their natural state.

Endometrial Biopsy

Endometrial Biopsy is a diagnostic tool preformed in-office where a small sample of endometrial tissue is removed for microscopic evaluation for a variety of symptoms such as: abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, and/or menstrual irregularities.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy gives our doctors a direct visualization of your uterine cavity using a thin, lighted telescope that is inserted through the vagina and cervix. This allows for the examination of any polyps, fibroids, scar tissue, and other possible abnormalities contributing to your overall gynecological health.

Colposcopy

Colposcopy examines the cervix and the vaginal walls using a lighted microscope. This gives our doctors a magnified view of the area to screen for abnormal cells. If an area of question is seen, a small sample (biopsy) is taken followed by a Pap test.

Cervical Conization (Cone Biopsy)

Cervical Conization (Cone Biopsy) is both a diagnostic tool and treatment option used to detect and treat abnormalities of the cervix.

Cryosurgey

Cryosurgey of the Cervix uses liquid nitrogen (nitrous oxide) or carbon dioxide to destroy abnormal tissue found on the cervix initially discovered by Pap testing and confirmed by Colposcopy and/or Cervical Biopsy.

LEEP/LLETZ

Loop Electrical Excision Procedure (LEEP) or Large Loop Excision of the Transformation Zone (LLETZ)is an in-office procedure that uses a fine wire loop with a small amount of electric current to remove an area of cervical tissue in order to detect and treat abnormalities of the cervix such as cervical dysplasia. The procedure takes a short period of time to perform and is tolerated very well.
