Douglas E. Gearity, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., began the private practice. He specializes in obstetrics, gynecology, and infertility treatments, and provides various in-office and outpatient minimally invasive surgical procedures. Dr. Gearity earned his undergraduate and medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and served his internship in Bridgeport, Conn., completing his residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He is the proud father of four beautiful children.

Dr. Kareem completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Chicago, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1993 from the Department of Psychology. Dr. Kareem went to medical school at Northwestern University as well. During medical school she was active in community outreach programs including the Ashland Clinic, providing free medical care to the uninsured, and the Cabrini Green Youth Project, tutoring grade school students in Chicago’s Urban Housing Developments. After medical school she served her Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where she participated in research on the impact of fetal fibronectin testing on perinatal outcomes. She has been awarded several teaching awards for medical student and resident training, as well as an award for Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Surgeon from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. She has practiced in Central Florida since 2002 and has received recognition from Winnie Palmer Hospital for maintaining the lowest cesarean section rate in the department. She joined The Women’s Center staff in March of 2009.

Dr. Vega received his medical degree from Central Del Caribe in Puerto Rico and did his residency training at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens. He has practiced in Orlando since 2000. He is board certified. Away from work, he spends his time with his wife, a pediatrician, and their 2 kids.

Dr. Shéne Dozier Allen grew up on the South Carolina Coast and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of Charleston in 1993. After taking a break to have her children, and perform as a singer, dancer, and horseback rider in Myrtle Beach , SC , as well as to own her own construction company, she returned to Charleston to complete her medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2003. She and her family then relocated to Orlando for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winnie Palmer Hospital which she completed in 2007. She practiced for two years in South Lake County performing high and low risk obstetrics and advanced laparoscopic surgery. She has also completed additional training in cosmetic surgery, and has a true passion for assisting couples in conquering infertility. Her research has included studies of clomiphene dosing for ovulation induction and pregnancy outcomes. Currently, she is the only physician in South Lake County approved to do no-incision Essure tubals in the office, enabling her patients to return to normal daily activity quickly – in many cases by the next day.

Dr. Peña received his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Miami and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His post-graduate training was completed at Orlando Regional Medical Center with a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Peña has been published in both the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS) and the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians. He is a junior fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is also a member of the American Medical Association. 

Linda Kenney-Peterson, B.S., P.A.-C., has extensive experience in women’s healthcare from adolescence to menopause, perimenopause, and premenstrual syndrome. Even though she has been in practice for more than 20 years, she remains committed to treating each person as a unique individual. Kenney-Peterson has worked with Douglas Gearity, M.D., at The Women’s Center for the past seven years and enjoys her interactions with patients and women’s health issues. Kenney-Peterson earned her Bachelor of Science and received her physician-assistant training at George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Kriselle Ruiz, M.S.N., A.R.N.P., graduated from the University of Central Florida as a family nurse practitioner. Ruiz has been with The Women’s Center for several years. She provides comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological well-woman care from adolescent to post-menopausal women, with an emphasis on preventive medicine and health promotion. She performs urodynamics for women who suffer from urinary and stress incontinence, frequent urination and involuntary loss of urine.

Colleen C. Fitch, M.S.N., A.R.N.P., is a certified family nurse practitioner specializing in women’s healthcare and outpatient aesthetic cosmetic procedures for men and women. Fitch has several years of experience performing in-office aesthetic procedures such as pulsed-light treatments for facial vessels, rosacea, and sun and age spots. She also is experienced with various laser treatments, including laser hair removal and fractional laser treatments for fine lines and hyper-pigmentation. She performs medical-grade chemical peels and can provide Botox Cosmetic, Radiesse, Juvéderm and Restylane injections. Fitch earned her bachelor’s degree from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania and her master’s in nursing and nurse practitioner degree from Misericordia University in Pennsylvania.

Jennifer Ivy, A.R.N.P., C.N.M., is a certified nurse midwife who has been practicing for the past year. Before becoming a midwife, she worked as a registered nurse for 10 years in labor and delivery and high-risk obstetrics. She received her master’s degree in nursing with a certificate in nurse-midwifery from the University of Florida. She performs deliveries at Winnie Palmer Hospital For Women & Babies. Ivy enjoys spending extra time with her patients and their families and is able to answer questions and help guide her clients through pregnancy, delivery and parenthood.

Caprice Wright, A.R.N.P., C.N.M., graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters Degree in Nursing and a specialty of Certified Nurse Midwife. She has been in nursing for over 30 years with more than 15 years in the field of OB/GYN.

Barbara F. Gonzalez, C.M.A., L.F.S., is a licensed facial and skin-care specialist who has several years of experience with facials, chemical peels, medical-grade skin-care products, and waxing for men, women, and teens. She offers a wide variety of facials and therapeutic treatments for acne, aging, and sun-damaged skin, and prides herself on providing customized, personalized skin-care regimes.
